Mester: Fed should make sure it does enough

Thursday, 29. September 2022 19:25

Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland President Loretta Mester said on Thursday that she sees inflation as "more persistent" than the bank's median forecast.

Mester stressed that risks are changing as the funds rate goes up. but noted that, given the current inflation path, the Fed should be focused on making sure it "does enough" rather than worrying if it is doing too much.

However, she noted that, as the funds rate goes up, demand moderates and supply potentially improves, she hopes her "concerns will flip" cause that would mean inflation is coming back down.
